The Power of Pickleball (and a Simple Thank You)
Today’s “Water Cooler” is a thank you note. A little reminder that sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is send a quick message to a friend and say, “Thanks for being in my life.”
Too often, we meet people who become meaningful friends, but we never actually pause to say thank you. This is a personal nudge to myself, and maybe to you too, to express that appreciation while we can.
Two years ago, on the pickleball courts in San Diego, I met someone who’d go on to become one of those friends. Tall, athletic, with lockdown defense and a smooth Australian accent, Abe Roder was the kind of guy you notice right away.
What I didn’t know then was what kind of person he truly is, a great dad, a thoughtful friend, a generous connector, and a sharp businessman.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky to meet people in random ways who turn into lifelong friends. Abe, you’re one of them.
Thank you for the battles on the court, the deep dives into business and life, for welcoming me into your network, for our kids playing together, and for whatever lies ahead.
It is going to be a fun ride.
